Sr. Eva Bryan has enriched the Californian Region over the years with many gifts but in particular through her liturgical and Irish dance. Sisters in the Region discovered that her gift of dance is part of her family inheritance and being passed on to the next generation. Last month her nieces won first place in Irish dancing competitions in Las Vegas.
Sr. Eva was able to be present and enjoy their success. Séoiden Handibode Bryan, age 17 and her sister Síofra are from the Skerries School of Dancing. They are both World Champions and under 17 and 14 years of age!
They arrived in Las Vegas on February 13th and took to the floor on Valentine’s Day, February 14th despite jet lag. They danced ten dances: reels, slip-reels, jigs, hornpipes and a traditional set-dance. The girls are taught by their Mum who also designs and makes their costumes. Each dress is specially made with input from the girls. Síofra, age 14 designed her own costume and entered a costume design competition and came 15th out of 200 entries.
The sisters look forward to Sr. Eva dancing for their evening prayer at the Regional meeting next month and will award her with her own regional prize!
