
St. Anne’s Centre, an institution for skills acquisition and learning, situated in Alakija, Navy Town Road, Amuwo-Odofin LGA, Lagos, Nigeria held a joyful graduation on 23rd May,2026.
The graduation ceremony organized for its catering department students resulted after a period of thorough studies culminating in the oral examination which took place on 20th April and practical examination on 25th April. Following this rigorous, yet fun-filled learning process, 9 out of 21 registered students graduated.
The event opened with a prayer by Sr. Maryann Emealo RSC (Local Leader of St. Anne’s Community, Satellite Town), followed by a welcome address by Sr. Freda Ehimuan RSC (Administrator of St. Anne’s Centre), highlighting the students’ journey and introducing the graduates. The occasion was graced with the presence of Sr. Prisca Acholonu RSC, Regional Leader of the Nigerian Region, and three priests.
The guests were welcomed with singing and dancing performed by the students and they were treated to chapman, roasted chicken, and egg rolls prepared and sold by the students.
Sharing their experiences, two students had this to say: “I am proud that I graduated from St. Anne’s Centre as a catering student. The training did not just teach me how to cook, it taught me discipline, creativity and how to serve people with excellence. With the skills I have gained in food preparation, menu planning, hygiene and customer service, I plan to start a small home catering service. My goal is to bring affordable, delicious meals to events and busy families in Lagos while building a brand people can trust.” – Mesoma Maduba.
“Graduating from St. Anne’s Centre changed how I see cooking. Before, I just followed recipes. Now I understand flavours, costing, presentation and the business side too.” – Ebere
As the students waited in joyful hope and expectation, certificates were awarded to all graduates, with special awards given to the Student of the Year and to three outstanding students.
The graduating class in return, presented a gift to the Centre in appreciation for the skills acquired and the experiences gained.
Through the effort of the Religious Sisters of Charity touching lives, the future of catering is in good hands.
