“This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it”, was the theme of our Province celebration on 21st September 2024, in Mary Aikenhead Day Centre Donnybrook, to mark Sr. Geraldine’s Golden Jubilee. On a bright Autumn afternoon, over 80 Sisters came to be part of this special occasion.
By co-incidence, the 21st September was also World Gratitude Day, a very appropriate day on which to give thanks for Geraldine and for her family, living and dead, where her journey began and who were part of it. Mass was celebrated by Fr Michael Casey SDB, in thanksgiving for Geraldine’s 50 years of commitment as an RSC, celebrating her fidelity, in response to God’s fidelity. Likewise, we remembered Sr Paula Kenny, as she celebrated her Golden Jubilee, but was unable to be present with us. In his homily, Fr Michael spoke about the theme of hope, a theme very much in keeping with Jubilee 2025. In spite of the many difficulties and problems we hear about in the media on a daily basis, we were encouraged to keep hope alive in our hearts and pass it to others.
Following the liturgy, we moved to the dining area which was beautifully decorated and enjoyed lovely afternoon tea; of course, there was time to meet and chat with one another. All agreed that it was a very enjoyable occasion.
To conclude, we wished Geraldine a very happy Jubilee Year and every blessing as she continues her ministry as Provincial Leader in the Province.
