Sr. Edith Prendergast, RSC was honored on Saturday February. 6, 2010 at the First Bi-Annual Concern America Integrity Award Ceremony named in memory of John O’Donohue.
One of John’s fond quotes, “The duty of privilege is absolute integrity” was borne out of his reflection of the apparent disparity in our world today and our duty to make a difference in the lives of the poor.
John’s brothers P.J. and Pat traveled from Ireland and Pat gave a very heartfelt inspiring talk “John remembered.” Mike Farrell from the television program, Mash, also spoke with great eloquence and passion. It was a great evening of word, song, food, celebration and more.
The event was co-sponsored by Concern America and the Center for Religion and Spirituality at Loyola Marymount University.
Several of our sisters attended this dinner to support Edith and to acknowledge her integrity in making possible scholarships to promote lay leadership through her leadership ministry.
Another important event – this one organised by one of our sisters in Los Angeles – was the ‘Raising Money for Haiti Car Wash’.
Sr. Margaret Farrell, RSC organized a car wash with young adult residents at Covenant House to raise money for Haiti. They raised $1,738!
