The 22nd July is always a special day for all Religious Sisters of Charity and their friends. For the sisters and their colleagues at Mary Aikenhead Centre, Okpara Inland in Nigeria it is their Patronal Feast day. This year it was jointly celebrated by Sisters in the community community and the Development Centre students and staff.
They were joined by the parishioners of Christ the King parish Okpara Inland and the staff of St. Francis Hospital. Many children from the neighborhood came to celebrate with them including families of the staff and students. Their friends from other denominations were not left out as well as traditional rulers.
Sr Justina Nelson RSC, in her welcome address, shared the story of Ven. Mary Aikenhead life and the activities of the sisters in Warri Diocese and the world at large.
It was a wonderful day for everyone involved. The children performed a drama titled ‘’Garri women sellers ‘’. It was the story of a protest march to the Governors’ office to fight for their rights. They also sang and danced. Everyone enjoyed the day.
