On the 8th March, women around the world will be celebrating International Women’s Day. This is a day for women to celebrate their achievements and the achievements of other women, no matter how big or small. We will be celebrating the life of devotion, prayer, the vows that our sisters have taken and the work they do to help others.
Sisters from our congregation all around the world engage in work to benefit the community and to devote themselves to the vulnerable and those who need help the most. This devotion is only possible through the strength and drive of the sisters in our congregation, who selflessly offer themselves to God’s service towards the poor. This is reflected by our fourth vow, one of service to the poor, and our motto Caritas Christi Urget Nos – The Love of Christ Urges Us On.
Today we must also remember in particular the work our sisters do for those who fall victim of human trafficking. We must remember that often the victims of human trafficking are vulnerable women. We pray for their strength and courage and that we may continue to help them in their time of need.
Loving God, you speak to us through all of life. Help me to trust you and to trust that what you desire for me lies in the deepest part of my heart. And, what you desire is that which allows me to grow and to be the person you created me to be – fully human and fully alive. May I always centre my life on you and hear joyfully your call to be your companion. Help me to follow my desire to live my life as best I can and to serve others with the special gifts you have given me. Amen.
