As the term of office of Sr Imelda O’Brien and her Team draws to an end in June 2011, the sisters in the Nigerian Region gathered together in a spirit of prayer, from the 27th -28th of November 2010 and took the responsibility to nominate those who would form the next Leadership Team in the Region.
The Congregational Leader, Sr Mary Christian, opened the discernment process with a short reflection that reminded the sisters of the procedure for the nomination of the new Leadership Team. She also encouraged everyone to enter into the process with a spirit of discernment. During the weekend each community expressed in symbols their hope for the future and the present Regional Leadership Team symbolized ‘the different aspect of life as Team’. There were also two inputs – one on ‘Leadership and its challenges into the future’ by Sr Anne Falola, O.L.A. and the other on ‘Murmuratio’ by Sr Mairead Ni Chuirc.
The nomination process was concluded with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. All was done in the spirit of prayerful discernment individually and corporately. However, as the General Leadership Team continues with the discernment process, the Nigerian Region recognizes and trusts that the Spirit of God is at work. Therefore, they look to the future with hope, as they await the appointment of the new Regional Leadership Team – A. M. D. G.
