Last month in Ijebu Itele, Nigeria, fourteen people gathered at a 5 day workshop on Combating Human Trafficking. This included two Australian Sisters of Charity and three lay colleagues from Nigeria, California and Zambia, three Sisters from Nigeria, two from Ireland, one from England/Scotland, one from Zambia,one from California/Venezuela and a representative of the General Leadership Team.
Among other things, the workshop including sharing and listening to what was being done in each area with regard to Human Trafficking. A field day was also organised that gave the participants an opportunity to learn about some of the responses to Human Trafficking that are in place in Nigeria. The workshop ended with drafting of a proposed plan of action for a corporate response to the issue of Human Trafficking. The participants also came up with the statement in the PDF document below.
