With deep joy and hope, the Religious Sisters of Charity join the Church throughout the world in welcoming His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, and we offer him our heartfelt congratulations and prayers as he begins his ministry as the 267th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church.
As a man shaped by missionary service and a deep love for the Church, Pope Leo brings with him a spirit of humility, faith, and attentiveness to those on the margins, particularly those in the Global South and underserved communities, where we too are called to serve.
We are particularly moved by His Holiness emphasis on peace and unity in his inaugural address. His call resonates deeply with our mission to serve those in need and to promote justice and compassion in our communities.
We also have great hope that Pope Leo will continue the spirit of renewal begun by Pope Francis especially his deep care for the poor, the earth, and a Church committed to peace and unity.
As we begin this new chapter under the leadership of Pope Leo XIV, we join with the global Church in praying for him, asking that he be blessed with wisdom and strength as he guides us in faith, hope, and love.
