Sonas apc was delighted to win a GSK Ireland IMPACT Award for 2015. The venue for the awards ceremony was the Science Gallery, Trinity College, Dublin. Sonas apc was selected as one of four winners for a prize of €10,000 each. Over 50 voluntary organisations had originally applied for this award.
The GSK (Glaxo Smith Klein) Ireland IMPACT Awards are based on a similar programme that has been running in the UK and US for almost 20 years and has now been introduced into Ireland. The company’s aim is to improve people’s health and wellbeing. The awards are open to registered charities that are at least three years old and are designed to recognise small to medium sized charities that are doing outstanding work to improve people’s health while on a limited income.
The judges commented ‘It is astounding how much is being achieved by these four winning charities. They are led and staffed by individuals who are completely dedicated to their work, putting their community’s health and wellbeing first and making a real difference to people’s lives’.
A promotional video was made of each winning organisation and shown on the night of the awards. The video has been given to each winning organisation for its use as a promotional tool. This is very valuable in its own right, as the videos involved a full day’s recording, are of very high quality and would cost an estimated €8,000 to make. You can view the video below.
After the ceremony a reception was held to give recipients an opportunity to meet and greet. Among others, the President of GSK Ireland spent some time talking individually to the award winners and assuring us that repeat applications in the future will be welcomed.
This award has already given a huge boost to Sonas apc, both financially and in increasing its profile. It promises to continue to bring benefits over the coming years.
