The 5th of September is a very special and memorable day in the history of the Congregation and especially the Nigerian Region as we celebrated the 200 years anniversary of our Congregation. We thank God for the gift of Venerable Mary Aikenhead and her Charism to us and the Church.
We are privileged to be in this Congregation as we thank God for enabling us to participate and share in her charism for the service of the least of God’s people. A.M.D.G.
We welcomed all our friends, family members, co-workers from our different ministries who travelled far and near from the different parts of the country to rejoice and celebrate with us. There were many priests and religious from different Congregations who came to share our joy.
The celebration was made more colourful with the Final Vows ceremony of Srs Uche Ojukwu, Perpetua Ihejirika, Maryann Emealo and Augustina Alozie. We thank God for the gift of these young, vibrant and enthusiastic sisters to our Congregation as we pray for their final perseverance in the service of God and his people.
The Chief Celebrant, Archbishop Adewale Martins, the Archbishop of Lagos, in his homily, expressed his deep gratitude to his Predecessor, late Archbishop Leo Hale Taylor for inviting the Sisters of Charity to the Archdiocese. He thanked our sisters for their contribution to the development of the Archdiocese in the different areas of our ministries with particular emphasis on the Pacelli School for the blind, Nazareth School and ministry in the prisons.
He also called on the newly professed to remain faithful to their calling and expressed gratitude to their families for their generosity and sacrifice.
Refreshment and entertainment were enjoyed by all after the Mass.
