The 3rd June 2017 was a remarkable day in the history of the Nigerian Region as they celebrated the Leadership teams. On this day all the sisters gathered in Lagos at the Regional House in Satellite Town.
The occasion was to celebrate the outgoing Leadership team of Srs Rosaleen Desmond, Freda Ehimuan, Micheline O’Donnell, Clare Moomba and Agatha Lucy, great women who have served the Region generously and selflessly with great enthusiasm and love for the past six years. It was also an occasion to celebrate the installation of the incoming team of Srs Micheline O’Donnell, Gloria Ozuluoke, Rosemary Udeaja, Sylvia Uwalaka and Helen Eluagu, who will serve for the next six years with vision and focus in the spirit of Mary Aikenhead, to move the Region forward into greater heights from where the former team stopped.
The sisters hearts were filled with gratitude for Sr. Rosaleen Desmond and her team for their selfless service, commitment and dedication to the growth and well being of the Region for the past six years. As the Nigerian people will say ‘’It was no joke O’’ they gave of their very best. The Region say “A big thank you to you, our beloved sisters. You have done wonderfully well.”
The ceremony began with the Eucharistic celebration in the chapel at the Regional House officiated by Rev. Fr. Vincent Ezezue Cssr, Parish Priest of Ss Michael, Raphael and Gabriel Catholic Church, Satellite Town. In his homily, he spoke about the challenges of leadership, the qualities needed for the leaders as well as those they are leading, and the need for cooperation for effective leadership.
The Region was privileged to have Sr. Mary Christian, Congregational Leader with them. Her presence made it more colourful. She initiated the installation process by addressing the sisters present. She expressed her gratitude to the outgoing team and encouraged the sisters to cooperate with the new team as they did with Sr. Rosaleen and her team.
The old team members then gave lighted candles to the new team members as a symbol of handing over the leadership mantle. The ceremony was very touching and all were filled with joy and gratitude to God for making the day possible. There was dancing and jubilation among the sisters as they congratulated the new team.
