The International Union of General Superiors (UISG), the organisation representing the world’s 600,000 women religious, gathered in Rome from 7-11 May for its plenary assembly which it holds every 3 years. The five-day conference drew together some 800 congregation leaders from around the world who examined the themes of mysticism and prophecy. Scottish born UISG President Sister of Notre Dame de Sion, Maureen Cusick expressed her delight with the results of the gathering, saying it was an amazing experience, “a gift of the Spirit.” The National Catholic Reporter’s (NCR) covered the event – you may like to look at the NCR’s editorial called ‘Global women religious: the new Catholic leadership’.
