The Congregation had much to celebrate during the summer months with a First profession in Zambia and Final Profession ceremonies in both Nigeria and Zambia. Sr Justina Nelson has written to tell us about the great day in Nigeria.
The Nigeria Region celebrated our five sisters who made their Final Vows on the 1st September 2018 in the Church of Ss. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael at Satellite Town, Lagos. Srs. Jacinta Ugochi Chukwu, Elizabeth Arit Udofia, Beatrice Opia, Ngozi Monye, and Martina Iyama attracted crowds from far and near. These include our sisters, family members and friends who came to share in their joy. We give thanks to God for the lives of these sisters and the generosity of their families. The children also added colour to the occasion.
The Mass was officiated by Most Rev Dr.Camillus R. Umoh of the Catholic Diocese of Ikot Ekpene in Cross Rivers State. Joy radiated the faces of everyone who gathered in the church to celebrate with our sisters in thanksgiving and love. The Bishop in his homily appreciated the works of the sisters in Nigeria, urged the sisters to cherish their vocation and to remain faithful to the Charism of our Congregation as they minster to the poor of God. He also thanked their families for their generosity in giving their daughters for the service of God.
We were also privileged to have Sr. Mary Christian our Congregational Leader with us for the celebration. We thank her for her love and commitment as we ask God to continue to strengthen her as she pilots the affairs of the Congregation.
The celebration continued after the Mass as we gathered outside the church premises for the reception. There was entertainment from the youths, children and women. The finally professed sisters also expressed their joy as they danced to the glory of God.
