The Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady is always a special day for our Congregation. From the beginning, Mary Aikenhead entrusted its care to Our Lady and chose this feast as the patronal celebration.
This year’s gathering carried particular significance as it took place in the Year of our General Chapter. On August 15th, more than 80 Sisters came together in Lakelands, including 16 General Chapter delegates from Zambia, Nigeria and England, along with two Sisters on holiday from Zambia and Malawi. They joined the Sisters of the Irish Province in marking the day with prayer and thanksgiving.
The celebration also reached beyond those present, with about 103 Sisters from different parts of the Congregation joining via livestream. Together, the Sisters gave thanks to God for the blessings of a successful General Chapter, expressed gratitude to the outgoing General Leadership Team, and prayed for the new Leadership Team as they begin their service.
The day was a joyful reminder of the Congregation’s devotion to Our Lady and of the bonds of unity and mission that continue to strengthen across provinces and countries.
