Two exciting developments have recently taken place in one of our communities in Nigeria.
St. Francis Hospital purchased a new x-ray machine earlier this year. On the feast of St. Francis (4th October), patron of the hospital, the new X-ray Department was officially opened and blessed.
All invited guests expressed their gratitude to the generosity of the funder – Combined Services Third World Fund (Ireland). The local community raised a portion of the funds. The arrival of this new piece of equipment has been welcomed in the hospital and in the local community.

The second development is the ‘Empowerment of Women in Cookery and Catering Classes’. These classes improve the cookery and catering skills of local women. They also learn the importance of good nutrition. The project enables women to become financially independent through the sale of nutritious food. The local community are delighted with the project and there is an increased level of interest for participation in future classes.
The RSC acknowledge ‘misean cara’s’ contribution towards this project.
