The Religious Sisters of Charity from across the Congregation gathered in Lakelands Chapel on August 15th to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. Sisters from Nigeria, Zambia, England, Ireland, Scotland and the United States were present to commemorate one of the Catholic church’s holiest of days.
The Feast of the Assumption is the patronal feast for the Religious Sisters of Charity, chosen by the foundress, Mary Aikenhead.
Sr. Patricia Lenihan, Congregation Leader welcomed Sisters from far and wide and shared messages from those who could not attend in person. A special message was sent from the Sisters of Charity of Australia.
The celebration coincided with the preparations for the upcoming General Chapter which will take place during the Church’s Jubilee Year in 2025. The theme for which is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.
As part of the Feast Day celebrations, Sr. Patricia Lenihan unveiled the theme for next year’s General Chapter which is: ‘Living our Future Together in Faith, Hope and Courage, which she invited all members of the Congregation to wholeheartedly take part, to ensure a positive outcome of the event.
