On 8th March 2024, excitement thrilled the whole space of Sacred Heart Nursery and Primary School, Ozoro in Delta State, Nigeria, as the school joined the entire world to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
After assembly, the pupils brought out their chairs on the corridor outside the classes for the celebration. The purpose of marking the day specially was to ignite the spark of fire in the women-to-be as it concerns their dignity and self-worth. This made a deep and lasting impression on the minds of the pupils in the school. The pupils were enlightened on the upcoming event and to this effect, the children particularly the girls prepared so hard to showcase their prowess as women filled with capacity ready to fill the world with the fragrance of love and joy. Almost all the girls wanted to present something.
“Investing in Women: Accelerate Progress” being the theme of the year was highly appreciated and felt from this space. The girls held their shoulders high proud of who they are.
There was a talk about Women’s Day and the achievements of women worldwide in all ramifications. The pupils were also sensitized on the value and respect for women. The females were also encouraged to believe in themselves as women and not to underrate themselves, rather to contribute their quota to the growth of the world and bloom where they are planted.
Some female pupils dressed in varying native attires and filled with pride presented poems, songs, dances and speeches to praise the women of our world and to appreciate the female and their mothers. Colour was added to the celebration as the female staff all danced joyously to the school gate with a poster of Women’s Day, the boy’s band escorting them with beautiful beats. The pupils all waved and danced alongside the female staff hailing them. We had the poster on the school gate to appreciate our female parents. The event ended as the pupils danced heartily back to their classes.
Women, earth’s jewel, indeed make the world spin for good.
