Recently women religious in Our Lady of the Angels pastoral region gathered to be a witness to joy in the neighborhood park. Bishop Ed Clark provided food, drinks and stayed for 4 hours to have fun and conversation with a variety of sisters. He gave each sister the gift of an icon of Our Lady Queen of Angels.
Our own RSC sisters who live in this pastoral region joined in the celebration – Bernadette Morgan, Francis Maria Monsimer, Angela Flavin, Kathleen Newell and Kathleen Bryant.
Loud laughter could be heard throughout the park on a very hot day! Sisters engaged in a number of activities, which included line dancing, a drumming circle, writing a haiku on the joy of religious life, or making a joyful action figure with crafts. Others chose to visit and chat.
We tried to live up to the Pope’s invitation to get out into the neighborhood and be witnesses to joy. “I want to say one word to you and this word is joy. Wherever consecrated people are, there is always joy!”
Here is a video of the day for you to enjoy.
