Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, which is a prison for youth under 18 years of age, was opened in 1957. Other than Mass on Sunday, it did not have any program for the residents during the week. Since September 1975 one of our sisters has worked as a chaplain there. She was the first Catholic Chaplain.
The many requests she received from the young people who wanted to make their first Holy Communion etc., made her organize a Religious Education Program. Today there are 120 volunteers who help her with Bible Study, one on one ministry and sacramental preparation.
