To mark the first ‘World Day of the Poor’ on 19th November 2017, which was designated by Pope Francis, the sisters in Konzalendo decided to assist seven elderly poor people in the parish. These were identified and chosen from all denominations.
For over four years Sr. Benedicte Stroem, a Norwegian member of the Congregation of St. Joseph of Cluny, has been carrying out research based on the Sonas Programme, which was devised by Sr Mary Threadgold RSC in 1990. Sr. Benedicte was formerly Director of Nursing at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Chapelizod, Dublin.
NET (National Evangelisation Team) Ministries is made up of young people who give a year of their lives to evangelise other young people. These young people are given six weeks’ intensive training in passing on the faith and engaging with young people in an enthusiastic and fun way. NET visits schools during the academic year and give retreats to students.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence is a global campaign to raise awareness about violence against women and its impact on a woman’s well-being. It commences on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and concludes on 10 December, Human Rights Day.

As its early morning (6:15) and repeat late night (12:58) broadcast times suggest, the roots of the programme reach back to the traditions of Morning Prayer and Compline in Western Christianity. In this article Sr Frances Pollard tells us about a recent event in Merseyside. "For the past 20 years a Pause for Hope service has taken place at Liverpool Cathedral. Many people have been involved in the making. An organising committee with representatives of cancer charities and organisations in Merseyside plan and prepare the Services.
It was with great joy and delight that we celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Sr. Marsha, on July 2nd, 2017. Preparations were well under way, invitations had been sent and RSVPs received. The Jubilee Mass and celebration were to take place outside in front of Caritas. Tables were dressed and umbrellas were opened to provide shade from the California sun.
More than 200 invited guests gathered at City Hall in Dublin on Thursday 28th September to celebrate the work of social innovator Sr Stanislaus Kennedy. One of the many tributes that were given was that of Clodagh Hannigan a ‘Friend of Mary Aikenhead’.
