Our prayers and thoughts are with our sisters in the Australian congregation of the Sisters of Charity, together with their families, friends and colleagues as they come to terms with the effects of the recent floods in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
Reports received at our General offices indicate that whilst flood damage to buildings where the sister’s convents are located is minimal, there has been flooding in some hospitals and facilities. Some colleagues at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Toowoomba have lost family members, friends and their homes. This is devastating news for those involved. Please join us in praying for all affected by this tragedy by going to the Mary Aikenhead Ministries website and joining together in the prayer uploaded there.
Saturday, 15th January has been designated ‘Salvation Saturday’ in Brisbane where thousands of people not in the flooded suburbs and elsewhere volunteered to ‘clean-up’ the mud and slush in a show of extraordinary human spirit and good old fashioned ‘Aussie Mateship’!
