It was with great joy and delight that we celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Sr. Marsha, on July 2nd, 2017. Preparations were well under way, invitations had been sent and RSVPs received. The Jubilee Mass and celebration were to take place outside in front of Caritas. Tables were dressed and umbrellas were opened to provide shade from the California sun.
More than 200 invited guests gathered at City Hall in Dublin on Thursday 28th September to celebrate the work of social innovator Sr Stanislaus Kennedy. One of the many tributes that were given was that of Clodagh Hannigan a ‘Friend of Mary Aikenhead’. Here is the text of Clodagh’s tribute.
Over most of the past year the Sisters in England/Scotland have been discerning together as a Province about their future viability. During that time, they have been praying a prayer of Discernment. This year in September Sr Muriel Larkin had the privilege of revisiting Nigeria for three weeks. It was a wonderful experience and in this article she expresses her gratitude to the Congregation for giving her this opportunity. She also tells us all about her time there.
On Saturday 2nd September 2017 about 120 Sisters of Charity gathered in Donnybrook, Dublin to witness the commissioning of a new Provincial Team who will lead the Irish Province for the next six years. Sr Úna O’Neill has been appointed the Provincial Leader and will be supported by Srs Anne Marie Costelloe, Catherina Kenny, Geraldine Byrne and Rosaleen Crossan.
St Margaret of Scotland Hospice Consultant, Professor John Welsh, was formally received into the Church on this very special Holy Day. In a moving and inclusive Mass on the Feast of the Ascension, Canon Gerard Tartaglia, supported by Hospice Chaplain Frank Wilson, welcomed Professor John to the Church.
